Living in Vestavia Hills, Alabama

Vestavia Hills is one of the areas I spend a lot of time working in, and one of the things I love about it is that there really isn’t just one type of Vestavia neighborhood.

A Lot of Variety in One Community

You can find established homes with beautiful lots and renovation potential, newer construction, more walkable areas, and communities that feel completely different from one another. That variety is also why I think it helps to have someone walk you through the differences instead of simply searching by ZIP code.

What Is It Like to Live in Vestavia Hills?

Buyers are often drawn to Vestavia Hills because of the combination of community, schools, location and access to the rest of Birmingham.

Depending on where you are in Vestavia, your everyday experience can look very different. Some buyers want an established neighborhood and a larger lot. Others want newer construction, neighborhood amenities or easy access to I-459. Some want to be closer to restaurants and shopping, while others would rather feel a little more tucked away.

When I’m helping someone relocate here, I usually start with how they want to live and work backward from there.

Homes in Vestavia Hills

One of my favorite things about working in Vestavia is the variety of homes.

There are homes with wonderful original character that may need thoughtful updates, properties that have already been renovated, newer homes and new-construction opportunities.

Because I spend so much time around renovations, building and real estate, I tend to look beyond what a home looks like on the surface. I’m paying attention to the layout, condition, lot, quality of the improvements and where there may be opportunity — or where a buyer could end up spending more than they realize.

Two Homes Can Look Similar Online — and Be Very Different in Person

That perspective is especially helpful in an established market like Vestavia, where two homes that look similar online can be very different once you actually walk through them. Condition, renovation quality, layout, lot and the improvements that may still be needed can all change the way I look at a property.

Liberty Park

Liberty Park is part of Vestavia Hills, but it really deserves its own guide because there is so much to understand within the community itself.

I live in Liberty Park and work here regularly, so I follow the different sections, new construction, development, market activity, amenities and changes happening within the community.
